Wet Mist, Dust, or Fume Collector
Fine dust, mist, and/or fumes are released into the unit housing beneath the surface of the Collecting fluid (usually water with surfactant, oil, or other appropriate liquid) filling its base. Heavier particles and condensed liquids tend to either fall out of suspension or blend with the collecting fluid as process air disperses and bubbles tothe surface. Some fine particles may emerge from the surface of the liquid, still suspended within air bubbles because their small size and/or low density may prevent their breaking the surface tension of the collecting fluid. The process air carries them upwards and through extremely small perforations in a steel pan, which is continually replenished with collecting fluid via a pump. Emerging in ultra-small bubbles, virtually all of them are arrested their as their agglomeration has caused them to become relatively larger in size. The pan fluid continually drains against the airflow downwards through the perforations, carrying the particles within it. Should ultra fine particles still remain within the airflow at undesirable or unacceptable levels, a second or third tray may be added and/or they may be arrested by HEPA afterfilters. Periodically, the collecting liquid may be drained along with the contaminants for disposal or processing.

HIT Scrubbers are used on existing exhaust systems or where multiple exhaust points can be manifolded into a single line. Typical locations are: above dropped ceilings, equipment rooms, roofs and parking garages. Carbon steel construction (stainless steel optional).
